Should You Submit Your Sitemap Every Month? - Search Engine Journal

Image
This week's Ask An SEO question comes from Renee in Iowa, who writes: "I read somewhere that you should submit your sitemap every month. When you provide an XML URL, isn't it just that – a URL and therefore updates are always in place? I'm using RankMath which generates my XML file. It didn't seem like I was uploading a file to Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster tools (actually, I let Bing import form Google Console). Maybe the confusion is that the HTML file needs to be updated monthly. I would be curious to hear your thoughts on that, thank you!" There's a lot to unpack in here, and Renee's question strikes a few of my nerves that I'd like to dive into. Before I do that though I'll just say no, you don't have to submit your sitemap every month. Now, let's address some common questions and misconceptions about sitemaps before we go into more detail on Renee's question. What's The Value In XML Sitemaps? XML ...

Image: Compiled by Zachariah Kelly/Gizmodo Australia When Google started out it offered just the search engine, slowly adding features over time. Today, it dominates the search engine world, but it also has a habit of tracking you across the web. Though it's easy to use without any costs, you might want to start thinking about your privacy, or you might want to just use a non-Google search engine. Here are some Google Search alternatives, in case you're a bit sick of the search giant. PSA though, you're still allowed to say "Google it" – nobody can take that away from you. Just be aware though, it's very, very hard to go completely off-grid on the internet. You could have a VPN and could use an anonymous browser like Tor and your internet traffic would still be collected by your internet service provider. That's the way of the internet these da...

3 Ways Keyword Search Might Be Failing Lawyers in E-Discovery | Legaltech News - Law.com

Image
During Legalweek 2022, a panel of e-discovery experts argued keyword searches are too limiting and should only play a small role in lawyers' data review. On March 11, Merlin Search Technologies Inc. founder and CEO John Tredennick led the "Search 2.0: Integrating AI With Keywords to Revolutionize Document Search" panel where he highlighted Sherlock, his company's machine learning-powered document review platform, as a game-changing upgrade from searching keywords. But beyond his platform, Tredennick and the other panelists agreed simply leveraging keyword searches to find or analyze data is a disservice to clients.

How Google Trends Improves SEO - Practical Ecommerce

Image
Google Trends provides invaluable insight into how people search for a particular topic. Similar to Google's autocomplete, Trends is useful because it relies on data from real searchers. Unlike autocomplete, however, Trends is not personalized or filtered. Thus the results for Trends and autocomplete will differ. Seasonal Content Merchants can use Google Trends to predict seasonal shopping fluctuations by reviewing prior years' activity. For example, searching Trends for "gifts" shows the U.S. interest peaks before Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and Father's day. Moreover, Trends displays when the interest rises and falls, allowing sellers to plan seasonal promotions. U.S. consumers' interest in "gifts" peaks four times throughout the year. The example highlights the peak from Dec. 6 – 12, 2020. Comparing Queries Trends allows the global or local comparison of two or more search queries, which helps prioritize keyword...
